[Advanced Tutorial] What is RunFromTheBeast mini-game and how to actually make it work! {Final Version!}



  • Before I begin, this game originated from a popular PC server where few Minecraft YouTubers played on at frequently and I was shocked to see this mini-game be on a random non-LEET server that I joined to have it and it worked very similar to PC version of the mini-game.

    Plugins that are Required to make this:

    DeathMatch
    MineReset or WorldEditArt
    Slapper or NPC
    AreaProtection

    Plugins that are Optional to make this:

    Unban Items (If you want to make the bottom of map lava and place it by hand)
    AutoCommand (To reset the Gate frequently without requiring a staff member to do it)
    LEETKits (If you’re too lazy to be adding multiple Action commands for a TTD (TapToDo) block that’ll be explained later on in tutorial)

    If you know about this Mini-game and how the game works in general - please skip the first three bold texts!

    What is this mini-game about/how it works? RunFromTheBeast is a mini-game in where a bunch of Runners are spawned without anything in their inventories in a room with two temporarily closed exits, one of them contains a Beast in a tiny area/room closed off with double ironbars. The Beast which is a single player wearing full Diamond armour, has a diamond sword, a bow with loaded ammunition, food, and few gapples in his/her hotbar. When the game begins, the Main exit opens instantly and Runners met with multiple small obstacle courses. Around 10-30 seconds after the game begun the ironbars are broken and the Beast is released from his/her containment and he/she’ll will start chasing after the Runners in which are doing parkour jumps as fast as possible to get away from the Beast. If a Runner fails a jump, there’s a chance there’s nothing below that failed jump and therefore he/she dies and is officially out from the match. This’ll make it easier for the Beast to catch up with other Runners as he/she will have 1 less player to worry about killing. The Runners are allowed to hit the Beast to slow him/her down a bit but mostly likely they’ll end up dead by Beast or from being pushed into lava or void by the Beast. If the Beast fails to catch up with the rest of Runners, they can get pretty far away from him/her and if they beat the last obstacle course, the Runners will encounter a area or room that contains chests that has same or better gear than the Beast’s or a Action Block that has OP potion effects (like Strength II or Resistance III) and run there to get upgraded. They’ll run back chasing after the Beast if he/she is still alive.

    In conclusion, the Runners are harmless to the Beast when they start running away from him/her. But when one or more of the Runners makes it to the end and equip themselves with same or better stuff than Beast has - Then the Beast’ll turn back and start running away from the Runners. Even through the Runners are now equipped with gear that is same or better than Beast’s, the Runners can still lose if they fail a jump trying to get to the Beast or gets knocked off by the Beast. Strength isn’t everything you know.


    How the Runners can Win:

    • The Beast fails a jump and falls straight down to lava or void and dies.
    • The Beast gets knocked off by a Runner and falls to death.
    • The Beast gets slain by Runners that made to the end equipped with stronger gear or has OP potion effect(s).
    • The Beast gets suffocated to death by accident or Runners.
    • The Beast gets kicked/dis-connected.
    • The Beast drowns to death by accident or Runners.
    • The game ends before the Beast can kill all the Runners.

    How the Beast can Win:

    • All of Runners somehow failed a jump and fell straight down to lava or void and dies.
    • All of Runners die from fall damage whatever they failed or took minor damage from a jump.
    • All of Runners get knocked off or slain by the Beast.
    • All of Runners die from suffocation or drowning.
    • If the Runner(s) dies first before the Beast does (Example they both knocked each other off at same time and are falling to lava/void) then the Beast wins.)

    How do you make this mini-game on a LEET server my Senpai?*

    Well, I haven’t actually literally made it on a LEET server and tested to see if these methods that I am going to provide below are actually going to make the game work but hey! You don’t know when you try that’s what they all say.

    Anyway, first you wanna make the area/place where the Runners and Beast is going to spawn at. Make sure to add a small room for only the Beast to be in and place two ironbars fences to ensure the Beast can’t hurt the Runners before the game starts because we obviously don’t want that, it ruins the game. Next make a couple of obstacle courses that are the Runners and Beast are going to be repeatedly jumping or running on.

    After you finished the last obstacle course, make a small area/room/place in which there is something there like a Action Block or chests filled with same or better gear than Beast’s for the Runners to kill the Beast.

    Once that’s done, make a area protection covering the whole map mini-game. Disable breaking or placing blocks - Enable PvP, getdamage, touch, and access.

    Now starting here it gets complicated so pay attention very CLOSELY!

    Make a DeathMatch at the map mini-game at building where they’ll spawn. I re-co mmended to make the mini-game last for Aleast 300 seconds that the Beast has to slay all the Runners but hey it’s your decision.

    Place and break 5 glass blocks organized in the big room where the Runners would spawn at. The first five players that join the query for the game would automatically become the Runners. After that’s done place and break the 6th block in the small where the Beast would spawn at. The 6th player that joins the query would become the Beast just to let you when game begins just to let you know…

    Now… in order for the walls to dis-appear without getting a Staff Member involved for this game to work properly live when players are playing it - You’ll need to use WorldEdit2 or
    MineReset plugin to get rid of this issue, unless you want the game to be started by a Staff Member breaking the gate and open Beast’s containment chamber by manually that is.

    How to make the game start manually without needing help from a Staff member is first to make sure the fences/ironbars/glasspanes or whatever blocks you’re using to block Runners from leaving and the one to prevent Beast from killing them are exactly the same.

    You can choose one of these methods how to allow the Beast to remove the Fences manually without needing help from a Staff Member.


    By MineReset:

    Move the Small Room to left or right to where the gate that prevents Runners from leaving and remove bottom gate’s fence/glasspane/ironbars. Make the gate as a Mine via /mine create <name> and make it set to air 100%, then make a another one with same cords at gate and set that one to <block id> 100% for that second Mine to close the gate.

    Next, break the Small Room’s ceiling and make a 4x8-20 hole above and put a single block for the 6th player to stand on when game begins. Break and replace two different Action Blocks on that wall next to block where 6th player would stand on. One for giving the 6th player the Beast kit and other one is for 6th player to leave the mini-game if he/she doesn’t want to become the Beast. Don’t forget to add cobwebs on block and around the air to decrease the chances of 6th player accidentally fall down to ground and forgot to tap the Action Block to get the Beast kit.

    For adding the Action Block that’ll give you the Beast kit when touched, here are two suggestions in-case you’re struggling - /kitgive Beast %p%op OR /give %p%op 310 1 * /give %p%op 311 1 * /give %p%op 312 1 * /give %p%op 312 1 * /give %p%op 313 1 * /give %p%op 276 1 * /give %p%op 322 5 * /give %p%op 261 1 * /give %p%op 262 25

    You can if you want as this isn’t required, add Slappers or NPCs behind them Aleast 10 blocks away with bold text to show which Action block does what.

    Once you finished this part, if done correctly it SHOULD look something like this:

    Now that’s done, close off the hole’s ceiling and double check if the gate’s bottom fences/etc. are removed, if they’re not remove them. Remove one block from one of walls in Small Room and replace it with a different block that’s going to be the Action block that’ll open the gate when touched, you could also although not required add a slapper or NPC behind that block Aleast 7 blocks away with bold text explaining what that block does.

    I used a Redstone block to be the Action block to run “mine reset OpenRFTBGate”

    After that’s done, what would you want to do next is remove and replace few blocks you used for floor starting with 1x(number) of soulsand blocks and add cobwebs on top of them to add additional slowness so when the Game starts and 6th player gets the Beast Kit and taps on Redstone Block which opens the entire gate - The soulsand and cobweb would slow down the Beast just long enough for Runners to get a good head-start.

    You can decide on 1x(number) amount of how many soulsand + cobweb blocks the Beast would have to run through before he/she can start killing the Runners, if you don’t know how many is perfect I suggest you go for 1x12.

    Once you finished this part, if done correctly it SHOULD look something like this:

    Now you can finally relax a bit, go to McDonald’s to take a break

    And that’s basically it, your almost done creating the game on your server!

    Just add “mine reset CloseRFTBGate” to AutoCommand list so the gate closes very frequently automatically and you can move on to last steps.

    Pretty much by now you noticed it’s much harder to do it by using MineReset plugin. Aleast this way it’ll be slightly easier for you to do this alternatively.

    Let’s begin!

Break and replace three different Action Blocks on that wall next to glasspane/whatever block(s) the 6th player would be standing on when game starts. One’ll be for giving the 6th player the Beast kit, the second one is for 6th player to leave the mini-game if he/she doesn’t want to bec.ome the Beast, and third one is for opening the gate and the hole which begins the game. Place a sign for each Action Block explaining what each one does.

    For adding the Action Block that’ll give you the Beast kit when touched, here are some suggestions in-case you’re struggling - /kitgive Beast %p%op OR /give %p%op 310 1, /give %p%op 311 1, /give %p%op 312 1, /give %p%op 312 1, /give %p%op 313 1, /give %p%op 276 1, /give %p%op 322 5, /give %p%op 261 1, and finally /give %p%op 262 25

    From here, starting from under glasspanes or whatever blocks you used at middle inside hole of Small Room - start placing cobwebs and don’t stop until you get to on top of Small Room’s floor.

    Once you finished with this part, if done correctly it SHOULD look something like this:

    Before you go any further, be SURE both the gate’s and the hole’s blocks are exactly the same. Otherwise this game wouldn’t work properly which you obviously don’t want to happen do you?

    Anyway, Now go outside the spawn area/place and find the coordinates covering the entire build, you can find them by typing:

    /tp ~ ~ ~

    OR

    /we 1

    When you do find the right coordinates that cover the entire build, go back inside and find Action Block that’s in hole, and add this Action to that block!

    //cuboid g <xyz> <xyz #2>

    //replace <gate's and hole's block id> <air or 0>

    And that’s basically it, you’re almost done creating the game on your server!

    Just add those two commands (plus don’t forget the coordinates too!) to Action Block at very end of map where the Runners can get better gear than Beast’s if they tap it so the gate closes OR add them to AutoCommand as it’s automatic and easier that way, after this is done you can move on to last steps.

    Break and replace one block at one of walls in very end of Map’s build with a Action Block that’ll give the Runners same or better stuff than Beast’s, if you have SkyWars or AutoRefillChest plugin unlocked you can optionally can use chests instead since they’ll have random stuff that could be used to kill the Beast + gets re-filled/resetted often.
